My Favorite 2009 James Beard Award Winners

By Erin Ferucci
Celebrity Lifestyle Designer

Fat may have won the James Beard Foundation Award for Cookbook of the Year but the one that I am most interested in purchasing is The Big Fat Duck Cookbook, by Dominic Davies, which won for best photography! At $250 a book it may not be on everyone’s list, but with pictures like these can you blame me!
The other winner on my shopping list is The Food You Crave: Luscious Recipes for a Healthy Life, by Ellie Krieger, which won the award for best health focus. This is a healthful cookbook to get excited about – healthy, delicious and she even encourages you to include a little fat!
In other news Alinea, which I featured on this Blog a few months ago, won the award for Cookbook, Category: Cooking from a Professional Point of View!

The James Beard Foundation Award Winners

By Erin Ferucci
Celebrity Lifestyle Designer

Time magazine calls The James Beard Foundation Awards the food equivalent of the Oscars. Earlier this week in a ceremony held at The Lincoln Center, the 2009 JBF awarded prizes in 38 categories. Some highlights… Jean Georges was awarded Outstanding Restaurant;check out my Blog on the owner and executive chef Jean Georges Vongerichten on my Island Living Designs Blog.

Cookbook of the year went to Fat: An Appreciation of a Misunderstood Ingredient, with Recipes.

by Jennifer McLagan, which also won Best Single Subject Cook Book.

After years of trying to eat low fat, I guess the cooking world is ready to acknowledge that some things just taste better with a little…fat!

I Love Blue!

By Erin Ferucci
Celebrity Lifestyle Designer

Have I mentioned that I love blue? As a design element it is always fresh. What could possibly be better than a blue pillow? You can pretend you live at the sea, even if you live in the city, simply by looking at your blue pillow.Blue is classic, just like jeans. It's clean and versatile. It can be subtle, like these vintage French linens from Dan Marty Designs,or dynamic, like these blue coral pillows which are perfect for brightening up a stale beach house. Blue pillows can be Island batik,0r country contemporary. I love blue!
